約翰•紐荷芙 (John Nieuhof,1618-1672)

　畫家約翰．紐荷芙是一名水手及繪圖員，曾跟隨荷蘭東印度公司使節團前往中國。圖中所繪的相信就是荷蘭使節所乘之「勞克肯」號。使節團於1655年抵達廣州，此圖大概繪於那一個時期。紐荷芙曾將沿途所見所聞刊印成書。

　Artist Johan Nieuhof was a sailor and draughtsman who came to China with the Dutch East India Company. The vessel recorded here is probably the Dutch ambassador's ship Roukerken. Nieuhof compiled his travelogues into a book.
