銅縱目面具 (Bronze mask with protruding pupils,c. 1200 BC)

方形面，眼球呈圓筒狀向前突出，大獸耳向兩側展開，口縫深長，舌尖外露，下含頁略向前伸。眉、眼描黑色，口縫塗有朱砂。面具的耳、眼採用嵌鑄法鑄造。在額正中及耳的上、下各有一鏨鑿形成的方形穿孔。額正中的方孔，原應安有額飾。銅縱目面具最引人注目的就是一對極度誇張的眼球，不少學者據《華陽國志》載：「有蜀侯蠶叢，其目縱……」，推測是古蜀始祖神蠶叢的形象。亦有學者認為面具是《山海經．大荒北經》中燭龍的形象，是神話傳說中千里眼和順風耳的綜合體。
Masks with protruding pupils are particularly noted for their unusual eyeballs. Many scholars have referred to the chronicle Huayangguozhi: “There was a Shu nobleman called Cancong, who had protruding eyes….”, and speculated that this is the image of Cancong, the ancient Shu people's ancestor. Other scholars think that the mask is the image of the dragon mentioned in the ancient classic Shanhaijing, a hybrid of “Telescopic eyes” and “Sound-catching ears” in Chinese mythology.
