Peter:
Mary: What's wrong with you? You belched.
Peter: Sorry, I think I had too many moon cakes. I feel stuffy and bloated.
Mary: You better drink more water. You've hiccups now.
嬰兒哺乳後,我們應輕拍其背部,讓其打噎,英語就是“to make the baby burp”。 例如:“The fizzy drinks really make me belch.”(喝下有氣的飲品,令我打噎)。
“bloat”指發脹:“Overeating will make you become bloated.”(吃得太多會令你腫脹)。“bloat”可作名詞,口頭語可引申解作「說謊」,例如:“That's bloats, he actually doesn't know how to drive.”(吹牛,他根本不懂得開車)。
“hiccup”是「打嗝」,用法很廣,可作名詞、及物和不及物動詞,如“When I hiccup, it doesn't sound like a regular one.”(我打嗝的聲音有點怪,不像普通的打嗝)。引申而用,可指「輕微阻礙」、「間中不順暢」,例如“There may be some hiccups in rolling out this big project.”(全面推行這計劃時,難免有小問題發生)。
