黃埔是珠江河道上的一個小島，位處廣州以南十哩。遠洋船隻將貨物在此卸下，由貨艇駁運，轉送往廣州城。此圖下方原有一段題字，惜已被裁去。香港藝術館藏有此作另一版本，有完整的題字。此圖是自長洲島遠眺廣州，其中包括了黃埔及附近美麗的河道景色。圖中可見琶洲塔及鄰近廣州的塔。
Whampoa is a small island in Canton River. Lying 10 miles south of the City of Canton(Guangzhou). Cargoes were unloaded here and delivered to the city by cargo barge. The Museum has another identical print with the inscriptions intact. The View is taken from Danes Island, looking towards Canton(Guangzhou), embracing Whampoa and Junk Rivers, with the surrounding Picturesque Scenery, & including Whampoa Pagoda, & those near to Canton.
