1807年2月，廣州發生英國水手與華人毆鬥的事件。事件中一名華人死亡，數人受傷。審訊在英國商館進行。涉案的東印度公司「海王」號的五十二名船員被傳召應訊，圖中可見船員分批，五人一組被帶上庭問話。畫中央坐在案桌後的中國官員應該就是裁判，坐在右邊旁聽席前方的是四位行商，坐在左邊旁聽席前方的是五位英方代表。審訊結果是其中一位水手被收押及罰款4英鎊。
In February 1807, British seamen got into a brawl with local Chinese. A Chinese was killed and several others injured. A trial was held in the British Factory. 52 seamen of East India Company vessel the Neptune were summoned to the hearing in groups of five. This work shows one group taken to court for questioning. In the middle, the Chinese official sitting behind the console is probably the magistrate.The court found one seaman guilty. He was detained and fined 4 Pounds Sterling.
