王翬（Wang Hui, 1632 – 1717）

王翬，字石谷，號耕煙散人、清暉主人等，江蘇常熟人。出身文人世家，幼時已喜愛繪畫，尤好仿傚黃公望的山水畫。與王時敏共遊大江南北，飽覽唐宋元名蹟，畫藝益得躍進。畫風明快清麗，面目尤多，以中年作品最為精彩。六十歲時受康熙諭旨作《南巡圖》，獲康熙賜書「山水清暉」。為「四王」之一，並與惲壽平及吳歷合稱「清初六家」。
Wang Hui was a native of Changshu, Jiangsu province. In his early years, he started to paint landscapes in the style of Huang Gongwang . Later, he was introduced to Wang Shimin by Wang Jian. Under the direct tutelage of these two older Wangs, he had the opportunity to study different collections of masterpieces from successive dynasties. Ultimately, he developed consummate skills and great versatility in his painting.
