George was lazy. The teacher gave him some interesting exercises but he did not do them. The teacher could not make a cow drink.
Although the teacher gave George some interesting exercises , he refused to work on them. Well, you can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make him drink.
A. Where there is a will, there is a way.
B. Too many cooks spoil the broth.
C. Birds of a feather flock together.
D. Absence makes the heart grow fonder.
1. John and Peter, who love playing computer games, always go shopping for new gadgets together. ______
2. The students are always arguing about how to organize the activities well. With twenty members in the committee, they can never come to any agreement. _____
3. Mr. and Mrs. Smith decided to go on separate tours for a month because they knew ______. When they returned after their trips, they would love each other more.
4. My students sometimes find it hard to improve their English and some even want to give up. I usually tell them, “ _____.”
