由四方街向上望，約1925年。
這一帶是華人的居住區，亦接近著名的文武廟，有不少學校和宗教活動場所設於此。1894年的疫症，導致不少華人的住宅被拆卸。青年會亦是在疫區內興建，落成於1918年。
樓梯街是由皇后大道中伸延至堅道，興築於1850年代，是一條全由石級構成的道路。

This section near the famous Man Mo Temple is the Chinese residential area, where numerous schools and religious institutions situated.
Large number of Chinese residential houses were demolished after the plague which outbroke in 1894. In 1918, YMCA was built in the original plague area.
