看看下列句子可有錯漏：
1.Peter knew that Mary forgot about the appointment and felt sorry for it.
2.Mr. Lee wanted his students to get results as impressive as Mr. Chan.
3.You can either go to London or Paris.
4.She lied not only to the public but also deceived herself into believing her own lies.
寫此類句子必須精確
這些句子原來都犯了平行結構 (parallel construction) 的錯誤。大家還記得我曾於此欄提及過英語世界內的 parallelism 結構嗎？寫此類句子是必須精確，不能輕率的。上列句子應改為下列寫法：
1.Peter knew that Mary forgot about the appointment and she felt sorry about it.
加了一個 “she” 便清楚表達了是 Mary 覺得有歉意而非 Peter.
2.Mr. Lee wanted his students to get results as impressive as Mr. Chan's students.
Mr. Lee 希望他的學生能取得如 Mr. Chan 的學生一樣出色的成績，與Mr. Lee 本人出色與否並無關連。
3.You can go to either London or Paris.
大家要小心 “either or” 和 “neither nor” 之用法。兩組詞彙都必須用平行結構，在 “either” 或 “neither” 後用了動詞，跟著的 “or” 或 “nor” 便必須用動詞；前段用了名詞，後段便必須是名詞。
4.She not only lied to the public but also deceived herself into believing her own lies.
“not only” 和 “but also” 也要前呼後應，用動詞或名詞，不得有誤。

A)John remembered Judy had read the book and he/she liked it very much. (不註明是 he 或 she，便會引起誤解。)
B)The students in our school are as diligent as those in their school. (不加入 “those” ，便使人以為是學校在勤奮學習，而非學生了。)
C) Teachers can either take the examination or attend a course. ( “either” 後的動詞 “take” 及 “or” 後的動詞 “attend” 互相呼應，才算準確之平行結構。)
