左方與閣麟街交界的三陽南貨號，以中國特產食品而馳名。
這一帶有不少老店，包括陳春蘭茶葉莊和余仁生藥行。還有包括華豐、楚記、金菊園和廣州燒臘店，以及永隆銀行、昌記及昭泰銀號。
右下方可見一輛平治（奔馳）的士。左方可見一運送午飯往中環各辦公室的「包伙食」工人。這現象維持至1970年代初，飯盒興起為止。

On the intersection(left)of Cochrane Street was a Sam Yeung grocery for Chinese foodstuff.
Many historical shops situated in this area, including Chan Chun Lan Teashop, Yu Yan Sang Medicine Co.. Also Wah Fung, Chor Kee, Kam Kuk Yuen and Kwang Chow which was famous for roasted and preserved meat. Three Chinese banks, Wing Lung, Cheong Kee and Chiu Tai were on the left.
A taxi of Benz was passing in front of the market. On the left, a caterer was transporting lunch to the offices in the commercial buildings.
