永隆銀號的木招牌 Wooden Shop Sign of Wing Lung Bank
永隆銀號由伍氏家族於1933年在香港文咸東街創辦，至1937年始遷至皇后大道中112號擴充經營。展出的是該銀號開業時使用的木製招牌。傳統華人店舖會以金色漆油或貼金方法，令招牌上商號的名字閃爍生輝。「金漆招牌」寓意店舖信譽昭著，歷久不變，與傳統銀號著重交情及信用的經營理念不謀而合；而在歲晚大掃除時，替招牌「簪花掛紅」，則寓意來年業務興旺，吉祥安泰。
Wing Lung Bank was founded by the Wu family in 1933 on Bonham Strand, but relocated to 112 Queen's Road in 1937 after its business expanded. On display is the wooden shop sign used by the bank at its grand opening. Traditionally, the name of a Chinese shop was either written in gold paint or decorated with golden flakes to make it glitter. The gold paint symbolises a good reputation that lasts through time and thus echoes the idea of building long-lasting business relationships based on mutual trust. At the end of the lunar year, the shop sign would be decorated with flowers and red ribbons, which serve as auspicious signs of prosperous business in the coming year. ■資料：香港歷史博物館
