Established by Russia, France and China in December 1895 and headquartered in St. Petersburg, the Russo-Asiatic Bank was the first joint venture bank to be set up in China. The Shanghai branch was established in February 1896 at No. 29 on the Bund – the original site of the Comptoir d’Escompte de Paris – but moved to No. 15 in 1901. The branch went out of business in 1926 following the bankruptcy of the head office. This five-yuan note with a twin-dragon design was issued by the bank in 1917. ■資料:香港歷史博物館
