早於1910年代，已有市民在荔枝角海灣暢泳。1919年，美孚三達石油公司在海灣旁開設。1921年，九龍汽車公司的巴士服務亦伸展至荔枝角。
1948年，包括東方、中華青年會及華員會的泳棚在此設立，荔枝角灣成為九龍的著名游泳中心。
1965年起，美孚公司的地段發展為美孚新邨，稍後，海灣亦被填為陸地。

In 1910s, Lai Chi Kok Bay was already a polular swimming ground. 1919, Mei Foo Standard Petroleum Co. set up a branch and oil banks beside the Bay. 1921, Kowloon Motor Bus Co. Ltd. operated bus services to Lai Chi Kok.
1948, swimmers' shelters named Eastern, Chinese YMCA and Chinese Civil Servants were opened here, and the Bay became the famous swimming centre of Kowloon.
Began in 1965, the location of Mei Foo developed into Mei Foo Sun Chuen, and the Bay was reclaimed later.
