圖說香江：約1870年的寶靈海旁

　右方是怡和洋行。隔了一條畢打街的屋宇，是原為顛地洋行的香港大酒店，現今為置地廣場。

　左方是第一代匯豐銀行，其右上方的俄羅斯領事館，於1910年代改建為現終審法院的大樓，亦可見聖約翰教堂。

　前方有包括畢打碼頭在內的數座碼頭。

　1889年，當局在寶靈海旁進行填海，工程約於1897年完成後，寶靈海旁中易名為德輔道中。

　On the right was the Jardine House. On the other side of Pedder Street was the Hong Kong Hotel(formerly the Dent Co., and "The Landmark"today.)

On the left was the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank building(first generation). On its upper right was the Russian Consulate which became the building of Court of Final Appeal in 1910's.

Reclamation of Bowring Praya began in 1889 and finished in C.1897. The name of Bowring Praya Central has changed to Des Voeux Road Central.　■鄭寶鴻 香港歷史博物館名譽顧問
