由荷李活道向上望。
左方為落成於1840年代的文武廟，其背後的屋宇，於1874年起，曾為文武廟義學。
右方有一條通往太平山區的四方街，這一帶在十九世紀末，曾為娼院區。
「好酒」招牌的背後為必列者士街，第二代青年會於1918年在此建成。
樓梯街的頂端為堅道。左方曾有一崇基學院，於1950年代中遷往沙田，現為中文大學。

Looking upward from Hollywood Road.
On the left is the Man Mo Temple in the 1840s. The building behind was the Man Mo Temple Benevolent School.
On the right is the Square Street. It stretched to Tai Ping Shan Street. This area was the brothel district in the late 19th century.
At the back of the signboard "Good wine" is the Bridges Street. The second generation YMCA situated here in 1918.
At the top of the Ladder Street is Caine Road where Chung Chi College was established. Chung Chi moved to Shatin in the Mid 1950s and became a part of the Chinese University in 1963. ■鄭寶鴻 香港歷史博物館名譽顧問
