以匯豐銀行總司理昃臣男爵命名。
左方的木球會現時為遮打花園。
右方為1980年代中已改作立法的高等法院。
在德輔道中對面的是落成於1869年的第一代大會堂,於1950年改建為中國銀行,是當時香港最高的建築物。
正中可見一帆布頂雙層電車,其後方是美利操場,於1962年改建成希爾頓酒店,惟於1990年代中再改建為長江中心。
Jackson Road, c. 1920
The road was named after Baron Thomas Jackson, the General Manager of HSBC.
On the left side was the Hongkong Cricket Club, where now is the Chater Garden situated.
On the right side was the Supreme Court and it changed to the Lagislative Council in the mid 1980s.
On the opposite side of Des Voeux Road Central was the first generation City Hall which was built in 1869, then it was demolished The Bank of China , the tallest building at that time was built there in 1950.
A double decker tram with canvas top can be seen in the middle. Behind it was the Murray Parade Ground, where the Hilton Hotel was built in 1962, then the Cheung Kong Centre replaced it in the mid 1990s. ■鄭寶鴻 香港歷史博物館名譽顧問
