　續錄第三節，又回到老翁：In the all night cafe, at a quarter past eleven, Same old man sitting there on his own, Looking at the world over the rim of his teacup. Each tea lasts an hour, and he wanders home alone。「在通宵營業(all night)的咖啡室，（cafe是法文，唸如「卡菲」）晚上十一時一刻同一老人獨個兒坐著（on his own是「他獨個兒」）從他茶杯的邊緣（rim）上去看這世界，每杯茶捱一小時，然後他獨自遊蕩回家。」當然每節又唱refrain一次。最後第四節：

　Have you seen the old man outside the seaman`s mission, Memory fading with the medal ribbons that he wears? In our winter city, the rain cries a little pity. For one more forgotten hero in a world that doesn`t care.「你可曾見過那老人，在海員服務處門外，他的記憶力和他佩帶的勳章絲帶同樣褪了色。在我們這寒冬城市中，只有天雨灑下一點同情之淚，去一哭又一名被遺忘的英雄，失落在一個漠不關心的世界上。」

　Mission本是一個派去外國執行特別任務的代表團（如外交使團、傳教團等，傳教士就叫missionary），亦可解「使命」——如今流行每個機構都有其「使命宣言」Mission statement。也可指在貧民區做義務工作的中心，最後這一節寫得很好，很悲涼！老人的medal ribbon代表他往日的光輝，過去的功績，如今與他的記憶力一起fading褪色！成了一個forgotten hero「被遺忘的英雄」！那句winter city，可能指城市如今正交冬季，也可能比喻一個無情冷酷如冬的城市——倫敦：a world that doesn`t care。

　再答盧先生：作詞人在旋律許可時就用足那麼多個音，又that又doesn`t，重唱句要省一個音就用口語的that the sun don`t shine而不用doesn`t shine，再要省就連that字也省去，例如有句英文劇本常用來玩的對白：I know, and you know (that) I know, and I know (that) you know (that) I know……「我知道，而你知道我知道，而我知道你知道我知道……」括弧內的that字，文法上本應加上，口語化用法卻可以省去。在這例子中一定省去，才能讀成I know you know I know的聽覺效果（今日年青人電腦上ICQ就會寫成諧音簡化的I no u no I no了！）
