今天的主題是談婚論嫁，就是與大家談談英文字Marry。
Marry的意義是結婚。Marry可以是及物動詞或不及物動詞。
用作及物動詞 後面要有賓語
Marry用作及物動詞，後面通常都要有賓語(object)。 例如：
John will marry Jenny next month.
約翰與珍妮下個月就要結婚了。
但我們亦可說：
John and Jenny will marry next month.
句子中marry是不及物動詞。
然而，較常用的說法是get married，‘married’ 用作形容詞。例如：
John and Jenny got married last week.
約翰與珍妮上星期結了婚。
He is going to get married next month.
他下個月就要結婚了。
我們可說‘be married to’ 或 ‘get married to’， 例如：
She is married to a doctor.
她與醫生結了婚。
He is married to a doctor.
他與醫生結了婚。
Marry是中性字 不同「嫁」、「娶」
按一般的用法，marry to是指當事人與某人結婚。
Marry是一個中性的字，不同中文的「嫁」、「娶」二字。
上面第1句可以說成「她嫁給了一位醫生」。第2句可以說成「他娶了一位醫生」， 男女有別。
說到結婚，有一個說法叫做tie the knot。就是把兩個人當作繩子，結在一起。
They tied the knot after spending five years together.
他們一起生活5年之後，終於結為夫婦（共諧連理）。
When are you going to tie the knot?
你們甚麼時候結婚？
西諺有一個說法 ‘marry in haste, repent at leisure’
意指結婚時不考慮清楚，將來會後悔。
結婚的說法多樣化，但結婚要小心。
