There's a public square(Yung Shue Tau) on the right side. The Public Square Street runs beside it. Inside the square, there's a Tin Hau Temple which was built in 1820s. In 1861, after the Britains officially took over Kowloon Peninsula, they moved the Chinese residents of Tsim Sha Tsui to this area.

At the end of 1860s, a police station was established , therefore the name of the road in front of the square was given Station Street which was changed to Shanghai Street in 1909.

The Yat Ting Ho Teahouse in the central was rebuilt as a hotel in 1980s.
