圖說香江：紅磡黃埔船塢，約1930年

　紅磡一名，源於九龍的一條紅磡村，前方面向紅磡灣。

　1864年，黃埔船塢成立，提供大量就業機會，使紅磡成為一人口密集的地區。

　1898年，由澳門遷至紅磡鶴園的青洲英泥廠落成。到了1906年，中華電力公司亦在鶴園迅速發展。

　時至今日，三間機構的地段已發展為住宅、商業及酒店區。

Whampoa Dock, Hung Hom,c. 1930

　Hung Hom, named after a Hung Hom Village of Kowloon. The bay in front is called Hung Hom Bay.

　In 1864, Whampoa Dock was founded and it provided many job vacancies. As a result, Hung Hom became a densely populated area.

　In 1898, Green Island Cement Co. moved to Hok Yuen, Hung Hom. In 1906, China Light and Power Co. began its branch here and developed quickly in the subsequent years.
