用電腦寫文章時，軟件會幫你檢查拼字和文法，把practise自動改成practice，其實這是英式英語跟美式英語的問題。
英式英語，動詞是practise，名詞是 practice。
美式英語，動詞、名詞都是 practice。
用作動詞 指執行及身體力行
動詞的practise/practice有執行、身體力行的意思。
He practised (practiced) law in Hong Kong after he got the qualifications in the U.K.
他在英國取得專業資格後，回香港從事法律工作。
The politician does not practise (practice) what he preaches.
那個政治家只懂空談道理，自己沒有身體力行。
另一意思是練習
此外，這個字的主要意義是練習。
He practised (practiced) calligraphy three days in a week.
他每星期花3天練習書法。
The swimmer practised (practiced) every day.
那個泳手每天都練習。
用作名詞 分可數及不可數
作為名詞，practice可以是可數名詞 (countable noun) 或不可數名詞 (uncountable noun)。
解作行動，practice 是不可數名詞(uncountable noun)。
Travelling around the world is a very good idea, but how do you intend to put it into practice?
環遊世界是很好的構想，可是你打算怎樣付諸行動？
Officially, John is the section head but in practice it is Mary who is in control.
名義上，約翰是部門主管；但在實際上，瑪麗才是掌管實務的人。
亦解作經常活動或慣常做法
另外，practice解作經常活動，慣常做法，可同時作為可數名詞 (countable noun) 和不可數名詞 (uncountable noun)。例如：
The foreign company still could not get used to business practices in China.
那家外資公司仍然不習慣在中國的商業慣例。
It is common practice to make a back-up file for our documents.
慣常做法是為正本另立一個後備檔案。
當然，practice也指練習，亦是同時是可數名詞 (countable noun) 和不可數名詞 (uncountable noun)。例如：
The goalkeeper missed all the practices.
那名守門員缺席所有操練。
Practice makes perfect.
業精於勤。
