Tramway, C.1950
In 1904, the tram service started in Hong Kong, from Kennedy Town to Shau Kei Wan. All tramcars were single-deckers, from 1912 onwards, seats added on the rooftops of the trams. The closed tram compartment with fitted windows that we see today has been used since 1925.
1930s, hills at the Tin Hau area were removed, then trams going towards North Point began passing through King's Road instead of passing Electric Road.
During the Japanese Occupation, the tram services were stopped completely due to the shortage of fuel.
In 1965, there were trams that had a single-deck trailer behind. In 1982, the trailers were cancelled as they often caused traffic jams. ■
