在一些正式場合，如課堂討論或工作開會，難免有彼此意見不同的時候。有時，別人提出一個見解，你不同意，想提出異議，又怕冒犯人，那該怎麼辦？
觀看外國電影或電視劇集時，也可偶爾學習英語，下面是一些從劇集中摘下的禮貌語，適合在正式場合使用。
With + due/all due respect我很尊重你，可是……
Leo: "I think we should follow up the case."
(我覺得我們應該跟進這案件。)
Sam: "With respect, I think that is wasting time."
(我很尊重你，可是我覺得這是浪費時間。)
這是針對某人的發言，有禮貌地提出不同意見。
所以在會議時提出反對，可以禮貌地說出意見。例如：
With due respect, I don't agree with your suggestion.
我很尊重你，可是我不同意你的提議。
With all due respect, that is unwise.
我很尊重你，可是我覺得這是不明智的。
No offence + meant/intended 無意冒犯
Sam:" We are getting nowhere. I think we should quit."
我們不可能成功，我想我們應該放棄。
Leo:" No offence, but we cannot just give up at this point."
我無意冒犯，但我們不能在這時候放棄。
因為恐怕自己的話令人覺得受到冒犯，故此先賠一個禮，再說實話。
提出相反意見時，可用這詞句。例如：
No offence meant, but I think the activity should be postponed.
我無意冒犯，但我認為這活動應押後。
Your suggestion simply can't work. No offence intended.
你的提議並不可行，我無意冒犯。
