一隻與女主人已相處9載的雄性家貓，懷疑野性難馴，10月7日匿於床底期間，看見女主人俯身清潔，以為遇襲發狂，撲前如樹熊般緊抓女主人右腳噬抓，女主人無法擺脫，被迫負傷拖着貓兒奔出屋外呼救，驚動街坊報警，最後由到場警員與消防員合力解救，並送院敷治。專家呼籲，如被貓兒抓傷應及早求醫，一旦感染貓爪病，會有致盲甚至死亡的風險。
涉嫌發惡施襲的雄性家貓，年約9歲，一身啡黃色毛。受襲的女主人吳婦表示，貓兒由她一手養大，不料竟「六親不認」，將她咬傷。惟她又替愛貓開脫，稱多年來愛貓都喜歡匿藏床下底，可能已將該處視作據地，今次發狂噬主，可能是要保護根據地。
現場為油麻地東安街順安大廈一單位，事發於昨早11時許，吳婦在家中俯身清掃床底時，被愛貓發惡撲出向其右腳又噬又抓，吳婦無法擺脫，惟有用腳拖着惡貓奔出屋外走廊呼救，姓陳女鄰居見狀代其報警。
警員與消防員接報到場，合力替吳婦解圍及將她送院救治，而惡貓則被放回單位內，通知戶主女兒回家照顧。
《香港醫學雜誌》在剛出版的10月號透露，去年4月一名曾在內地接觸過貓狗的10歲女童，因感染貓爪病致高燒不退，右眼更險告失明，幸經治療後已無大礙。
Household Cat Turned "Big" and Mauled Its Keeper
A male domesticated cat, though having lived with its keeper for 9 years, is probably still wild at heart. On 7th October, the cat hid under the bed; when its lady keeper bent down and cleaned the area, it took it as an offence and went crazy. It charged, bit and buried its claws deeply into the right foot of its keeper. It mauled its keeper fiercely and clung to her like a koala. Not able to get the feline off her wounded foot, the old lady had to drag it outside the flat to call for help. A neighbour caught sight of this and called the police. Police officers and firefighters later arrived at the scene and together they rescued the old lady. She was sent and treated in a hospital. A specialist urged people to seek medical care as soon as possible upon being mauled by a cat. There is a possibility of contracting cat-scratch disease which may cause blindness or even death, he added.
The presumably enraged cat is about 9 years old, male and yellowish brown in colour. Ms Ng, keeper of the cat, said that she has raised the cat all by herself, and had never thought of being hurt by this "treacherous" creature. However, she still defended her beloved cat by saying that it likes to hide under the bed over the years and might have taken the shelter as its territory. The crazed attack might have been driven by the need to protect its territory, she said.
The scene was a household in the Shun On Building, Tung On Street in Yaumatei. The incident took place at eleven o'clock in the morning when Ms Ng bent down and swept the floor under the bed. Her beloved cat went mad, charged and mauled her on her right foot. She could not get it off her leg, so she dragged herself to the corridor and called for help with the feline still clutching onto her. Ms Chan who lived next door saw what happened and called the police.
Police officers and firefighters arrived at the scene on call. In joint effort, they rescued Ms Ng and took her to the hospital. The cat was taken back into the flat and Ms Ng's daughter was called home to take care of it.
The Hong Kong Medical Journal reported a case of cat-scratch disease in its latest October issue. A ten-year-old girl was infected after she had close contact with cats and dogs on the mainland in April last year. She suffered from persistent high temperature and almost lost the sight in her right eye. Fortunately, she was given proper treatment and has fully recovered. ■translation by 開明
