英皇道原名筲箕灣道,於1930年代填海擴闊後,易名為英皇道,以紀念英皇喬治五世登位25周年。
這一帶是「七姊妹泳灘」,不少著名公司和社團在那裡設立泳棚,麗池遊樂場於1940年在此建成。
圖中是太古糖廠和船塢;現時是太古坊及太古城。

Looking east from today's Model Estate.
It was originally called Shau Kei Wan Road. After being widened by the reclamation construction in the 1930s, its name was changed to King's Road in order to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of King George's reign.
This area was the "Tsat Tsz Mui Beach", famous companies and associations opened numerous swimming shelters there. Also, the Ritz Amusement Park was opened in 1940.
In the middle of the picture, there were the Taikoo Refinery and Dockyard, which becomes today's the Taikoo Place and Taikoo Shing. ■鄭寶鴻 香港歷史博物館榮譽顧問
