面試時，求職者需用最精要及簡潔的字眼去推銷自己，大家可以從個人背景、教育程度、工作經驗及技能等方面作自我介紹，時間宜在一兩分鐘之內，作用是先引起僱主的興趣，留待對方之後再發問。
網上有很多「面試錦囊」，為求職者提供很多即用的英文短句，幫助他們應付面試，但筆者見過不少求職者在面試中機械式背誦短句，既生硬又缺乏個性。例如很多人會用「I consider myself a hard-working （勤力）and responsible（負責任）person.」這樣的表達太平凡，很難說服面試官。
突圍而出 多用精闢字眼
要突圍而出，不妨多用更精闢的字眼，且舉例說明。例如你要申請行政文員職位，就可用「I am a well-organised（組織能力佳）and reliable（可靠）person. In my previous job, my main duty was to maintain a systemic filing system in tracking all the transactions with clients.」
簡單事例 證明應徵能力
筆者建議年輕人見工前先細閱招聘廣告，留意當中所提及的字眼，例如顧客服務主任的對應要求是「Self-motivated, dynamic, team player and sense of responsibilities」，你該想想如何引用以往的工作經驗去證明你的能力，例如你可以說「In my previous job, I used to resolve ad-hoc duties in the shopping mall such as finding lost children and handling lift incidents within the limited time and I was able to strengthen a good image of the shopping mall.」簡單的事例已能具體地向僱主證明你的能力。 ■香港職業英語計劃辦事處主管 莊富豪
