英語的名詞及形容詞後應否加「s」是一個有趣及值得研究的項目。
Drama, Dramas
鼓勵同學參加英文話劇活動提升語文水平宜避免說Enhance your English through dramas。原因是dramas亦可以解「現實生活中富戲劇性的事情」，例如The dramas involving the principal and some students had impacts on the reputation of the school（校長與某些學生之間發生了一些富戲劇性的事情，影響學校的聲譽）。
上述的Enhance your English through dramas中的dramas可以理解為現實生活的鬧劇；要避免誤會，可把句子改為Enhance your English through participating in drama activities。
Logistic, Logistics
Logistics「物流」是指一項工作所需的人力、物力的安排。大公司會有Logistics Department, which provides logistics services。形容詞logistic有多個解釋，其中一個是「有關物流的」，用來形容support, theory, control等名詞。例如This department provides logistic support for the whole company。在軍事上logistics是後勤工作。The logistics base provides logistic assistance for military operations「後勤基地為軍事行動提供後勤支援」。
The blind, The blinds; People, Peoples
在blind「盲的」前面加The組成The blind「所有盲人」。The blind已經是個眾數的名詞組，不可在blind後面加「s」（另外，blinds是「百葉窗簾」）。
The blind可以用Blind people代替。這裡的people不能改為peoples，因為people已經是個眾數名詞。另外，people「人們」只用作眾數。
不過people有另外的解釋：民族、種族或部族。在這個意義下的people是單數而在適當時要加「s」表示眾數。例（1）Different peoples across the world have different cultures。（2）There is more than one English-speaking people in the world（世界上有不只一個說英語的民族）。
Water, Waters
Water「水」是個uncountable noun，沒有眾數。
Waters「水域」是個只以眾數出現的名詞。如A foreign ship in chinese waters「一隻在中國領海中的外國船」；The upper waters of Yangtse「長江上游」。
在waters前加上適當的形容詞可以表示一個複雜、困難的情況。Hong Kong will survive the rough economic waters（香港會渡過這個經濟困境）。在混亂中乘機謀取利益、混水摸魚是To fish in troubled waters。
