試找出下列句子的錯誤：
1. They enjoy to learn English through reading newspapers.
(他們享受利用讀報學英語。)
2. The residents are opposed to building a cemetery in their neighbourhood.
(那些居民反對在他們的居住區建墳場。)
3. The accused is found guilty of murder his girlfriend.
(那被告被裁定謀殺女友罪名成立。)
4. Some students always postpone do their homework until the last minute.
(有些學生經常延遲交功課直至最後限期。)
5. They are dedicated to ending violence against children.
(他們專心致志，為終止暴力對待兒童而努力。)
6. He is used to taking cold showers even in winter.
(他習慣了在冬天也用冷水淋浴。)
答案：
1. They enjoy learning English through reading newspapers.
2. The residents are opposed to building a cemetery in their neighbourhood.
3. The accused is found guilty of murdering his girlfriend.
4. Some students always postpone doing their homework until the last minute.
5. They are dedicated to ending violence against children.
6. He is used to taking cold showers even in winter.
To 後面用 Gerunds 的舉例
如果大家有留意，上列6句原來只有句1、3和4有錯誤：在應該用 Gerunds時誤用了Infinitives。而句2、5和6是完全正確的。大家會問：明明是opposed to，dedicated to 和used to，3句都有to，而to 的後面應該用 Infinitives 呀？
原來在這3句內的opposed to，dedicated to 和 used to後面是要跟1個受詞 (Object)，而受詞必須是名詞 (Nouns)或名詞的替代詞。舉例如下：
1. Many people are opposed to euthanasia.
(很多人都反對「安樂死」。)
2. He is dedicated to his job.
(他專心致志投入工作。)
3. Hong Kong people are used to traffic jams.
(香港人習慣了塞車。)
Gerunds是名詞的替代詞
3句內的受詞 (objects)：euthanasia，job 和traffic jams 都是名詞。所以如要用動詞，便一定是加了 ing的 Gerunds，其實是名詞的替代詞。 再舉例如下：
1. We are opposed to reintroducing the death penalty. (我們反對重新引入死刑。)
2. They are dedicated to helping the poor. (他們一心一意協助貧苦人士。)
3. I'm used to getting up early. (我習慣了早起床。)
英語世界內的文法 (Grammar)，千變萬化，所以有一學說是不適宜用文法教英語。筆者認為文法是應該教的，只要掌握得宜，不把文法當成是千篇一律的硬規條，解釋得法，讓學生活學活用，他們的英語必有所長進。
