吳冠中說：「這是窮人的衣服，現在把衣服(的形象)不要了，只畫那色塊拼湊的(感覺)。」
視覺上，此作近乎純抽象，啟發源自百衲衣。吳不喜歡沒有內容的純抽象，並認為抽象與具象只相差感情。
Wu Guanzhong said, “What is painted is the clothes worn by the poor. The (image of) clothing is done away with, leaving behind the (impression of) variegated patches.”
Visually, the painting is arguably abstract. The inspiration is from the patched-up clothes. Wu dislikes pure abstraction without contents and he thinks the divide between the figural and the abstract is emotions. ■資料：香港藝術館
