英語世界：Cutting-edge 創先

　科技日新月異，就連日常用的手機、電腦、相機，以至軟件和商貿服務等均講求突破性和創新設計，所以現今需要很多形容詞來形容這種突破和創新的科技或產品。今次列出一些經常在媒體或廣告上出現的相關形容詞。

　首先要說兩個較有趣的形容詞cutting-edge和leading-edge。

　要創新，就要作出突破，站在最前線，cutting-edge和leading-edge就有這個意思。

分開使用屬名詞

　Cutting edge或leading edge兩個字分開，是名詞，表示一些事物是某個範疇的最新發展，有創先地位。例如：

　This new device is the cutting edge of communication technology.

　這種新設備是通訊技術的創先之舉。

　He is one of the best scientists at the leading edge of scientific research.

　他是頂尖科研界其中一位最好的科學家。

合用形容事物創先

　合起來的cutting-edge和leading-edge則是形容詞，用於形容一些產品或設計，表示它是創先發明。

　Cutting-edge designs incorporated in this mobile phone have made it extremely user-friendly.

　這無線電話內置的多項創先設計，使其極為方便易用。

　He was award a Nobel Prize for his leading-edge scientific discoveries.

　因他的創世紀科學發明，他獲頒諾貝爾獎。

「創新」形容詞舉隅

　另一個相似的形容詞是ground-breaking，用於形容一些事物是同類事物中一個新的、突破性的改變。

　The director attempted a ground-breaking 3D technique in his new movie.

　這導演在新片中嘗試一種突破性的3D立體技術。

　The university is doing a ground-breaking cancer research.

　這大學正從事一項突破性的癌病研究。

　此外，比較常用常見的有innovative和pioneering。

　Innovative亦是採用新的方法和構思，即是創新。

　The programme introduces a lot of innovative ideas.

　這個課程介紹多項創新構思。

　創新就是做先鋒，而pioneering就有這個意思，即是開先例。

　This is a pioneering treatment for lung cancer.

　這是具有開創性的肺癌療法。
