在當今全球化的世界裡，各國的利益高度融合，相互聯繫和依存日益緊密。因此，中國確定的對外關係的基調是追求和平、發展與合作。
美國前國務卿希拉里訪問中國的時候採用了一個中國成語「同舟共濟」，這個成語表現了時代的精神，準確反映了金融危機中中國與美、歐以及世界其他地區關係的狀態。
1992年，當我參加聯合國維和行動時，總有人問我：「你是韓國人還是菲律賓人？」現在，中國是聯合國安理會常任理事國中參加聯合國維和行動人數最多的國家，累計達1.4萬人次。
