始於1910年，來往銅鑼灣鵝頸橋電車站至跑馬地及愉園遊樂場。
1921年，香港仔街坊汽車公司及香港大酒店分別提供前往香港仔及淺水灣的巴士服務。此後，提供市區巴士服務的，還有名園汽車公司及香港電車公司。
1933年，中華汽車有限公司承辦港島的巴士業務。1994年，部分線路被城巴有限公司接管。1998年，新世界第一巴士公司接管中華汽車有限公司的巴士業務。
Buses On Hong Kong Island,C.1933
The bus service between the Bowrington Bridge in Causeway Bay and the Yue Yuen Recreation Park in Happy Valley began in 1910.
In 1921, the Aberdeen Kai Fong Motor Bus Co. and the Hong Kong Hotel Ltd provided bus services to Aberdeen and Repulse Bay individually. Besides, the Ming Yuen Bus Co. and the Hong Kong Tramway Co. also provided bus services on Hong Kong Island later on.
From 1933 onwards, the China Motor Bus was the only operator for all bus routes on Hong Kong Island. In 1994, some routes were taken over by the City Bus Co. and the remained routes were taken over by the New World First Bus Co. in 1998. ■鄭寶鴻 香港歷史博物館名譽顧問
