吳冠中建立「陰天」的獨特風格，並伸延到結合中西藝術：「濃而滯的油畫有時要吸收水分，嬌豔的色彩須滲進墨韻……人們喜歡晴天和陰天，如陰晴體現兩種審美趣味，則魚與熊掌皆可兼得。」
Wu Guanzhong developed a unique "rain" style and extended it to his marriage of Chinese and Western art, "the thick and sticky oil painting sometimes needs water and the bright colours needs to be integrated into an ink painting......People like sunny days and rainy days. If these two sets of aesthetics are expressed in rain and shine, we have the best of both worlds."
