Causeway Bay is a bay of round shape, which is like a gong . In 1850s, the government built a causeway in the middle of it for transportation. In 1880s, half of the bay facing Tai Hang village was reclaimed (where Central Library situated today), and the causeway became the Causeway Road.
In 1950s, the other half bay reclaimed too. And the Victoria Park was built on this place. The old buildings in the middle is the Royal Hotel nowadays. The Hoover Theatre was on the west . On the right was the Roxy Theatre with the black roof, which was demolished in 1972 and rebuilt the Roxy Building.
