Commemorate the Normandy Landing and uphold post-war order

The sixth day of June 2014 was the 70th anniversary of the D-Day. On the day, scores of national leaders and veteran soldiers gathered in France to commemorate the landing in Normandy. German Chancellor Merkel was among the guests. It is widely recognized that Germany, by sincerely showing remorse after the war, has earned the trust of the world and thereby Europe has turned over the page of World War II. In the Asian war zone, Japan was the nation that inflicted harm and was eventually defeated; however, the Japanese leader is still heading down a road contrary to the course of history. The Japanese leader has to sincerely and deeply regret the aggression his country committed in history and rectify the wrongdoings with practical actions if Japan is to earn the trust of neighboring countries and of the international community.

Alarmed by the successful landing in Normandy, Japan stepped up its effort on opening up a transportation route across the continent from Northeastern China to Vietnam in an attempt to turn the tide of the losing battle. With a global perspective, the Chinese armies and civilians resisted the fierce onslaught launched by the Japanese army in the Far East war zone. The Chinese people gave support to the establishment of the second front in Europe and joined hands with the world in fighting the anti-fascist war successfully.

During the Second World War, both the East and the West suffered from great disasters, but Germany and Japan behaved very differently after the war. Germany had gone through decades of continuous repent and remorse. The Germans decide to forever remember the crimes committed by the fascist Nazi and are determined to pass down the lesson from generation to generation. On the contrary, in Japan, there are always forces that seek to vindicate Japanese aggression and to challenge the righteous trial of Japanese militarism by the international community. They intend to challenge the result of the World War II and also the post-war world order. Definitely, this will not be allowed by the Chinese people as well as the people of the world. At this moment while the international community is commemorating the 70th anniversary of the D-Day, Japan should listen to the righteous voice of the world and truly regret their past deeds of aggression.¡½English Translation by Tung-ming
