The two-week nomination period for Chief Executive candidates started on the Valentine,s day and most candidates announced their election platforms. To be successful in the nomination, a candidate should be backed by at least 150 members of the election committee. We expect to see stake holders and groups to throw weight behind the candidates.
行政長官選舉的兩個星期提名期在從2月14日開始，大多數參選人已宣佈他們的政綱。參選人必須至少獲得150名選舉委員會成員支持，才可成功參選。
加強社會凝聚力
I hope the new Chief Executive will be able to work for the social harmony and defend "One Country, Two Systems" framework. He or she should proactively oppose any form of "Hong Kong Independent" movements spreading out in the city. At the same time, the new Chief Executive should strengthen trust and cohesion among the government, the legislative branches and the people of Hong Kong.
筆者希望新的行政長官能夠為社會和諧而努力，守護「一國兩制」，尊重「一國」，促進中央與特區關係，並致力保持「兩制」下香港的獨特性及發揮香港優勢，推進政制發展。他或她應主動反對任何形式的「港獨」行動在城市擴散。同時，新任行政長官應加強政府、立法機關和香港市民之間的信任和凝聚力。
需減緩貧富差距
The new Chief Executive and the new administration need to tackle a number of social and economic development issues. He or she should have concrete plans to raise the living standard for the people and better distribution of the income and expenditure in order to address the widened gap between rich and poor. Such plans required an adjustment on the government's budgetary philosophy and better use on the city's reserves.
新的行政長官和新政府需要解決老大難的社會和經濟發展問題。他或她應該有具體的計劃，提高人民的生活水平，更好地分配收入和支出，以解決擴大的貧富差距。這樣的計劃需要調整政府的預算哲學和更好地利用香港的儲備。
Carrie Lam, the front runner in the CE race and highly regarded inside the civil service, is committed to change the long-standing fiscal conservatism to push for her ambitious social policies. I believe she is capable to success in both developing the economy and raising the living standard for the people.
在現階段各個參選人當中，林鄭月娥是最合適人選，她提出要貫徹以「管治新風格」、「政府新角色」和「理財新哲學」原則推動三大重點施政範疇，並率先推出各個範疇中一兩項既具成效，又能回應訴求的舉措，立刻紓緩問題、解決困難。筆者相信她有能力充分利用盈餘，積極調撥資源，為香港未來發展鋪路，亦能紓解民困，回應市民訴求。■陳威雄
