'Occupy' LegCo Opposition legislators go against interests of Hong Kong

To align with the Occupy movement, legislators from the opposition camp staged a non-cooperation movement in the Legislative Council. The move has seriously hampered the launch of a series of government policies and projects, causing a waste of public funds. In the Public Works Subcommittee meeting held Nov 26 , these legislators went even further to try to suspend discussions on projects relating to the Lian Tang/Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point and the Sunny Bay reclamation. In fact, they constantly use filibusters in their non-cooperation movement, just to occupy and paralyse the LegCo. This is an act which in effect works against the interests of Hong Kong.

The opposition camp has turned the Subcommittee into a platform for fighting against the government. Their overbearing and wilful behaviour is not only against democracy, but also against the livelihood of many people. Major infrastructure projects are prone to their assaults, like the proposal on extending three landfills and building an incinerator, the North East New Territories Development plan, the development of Lantau, as well as the application for supplementary provision for the cost overrun of the High Speed Rail and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge. They have even made it clear that they would boycott the Policy Address. They are paying no regard to the economy, livelihood and future development of Hong Kong, thereby making themselves a public enemy.
