一位技術高超的竊盜犯史考特．朗恩出獄後決定洗心革面，去拜訪自己心愛的小女兒凱西時，卻被前妻瑪姬和她的警察未婚夫吉姆．派斯頓以沒交贍養費為由趕了出門外（Upon his release from prison, well-meaning thief Scott Lang decides to become a better man. He visits his daughter Cassie unannounced and is chastised by his former wife Maggie and her police-detective fiancé, Paxton, for not providing child support）。因為有犯罪記錄而難找工作，缺錢的史考特只能回去找前獄友路易斯合作入室盜竊，去偷一棟屋主外出的大宅中的保險箱。史考特單靠眼前的工具就進入房子，炸開保險箱後，卻發現裏面除了一套類似摩托服的衣服以外空無一物，只好把那衣服帶回家（Unable to hold a job because of his criminal record, Lang agrees to join Luis' crew and commit a burglary because he has no money. Lang breaks into a house with simple tools and cracks its safe, but only finds what he believes to be an old motorcycle suit, which he takes home）。
史考特沮喪地回去，但經不起好奇而穿上衣服後，突然被縮至螞蟻大小。史考特恢復後在第一時間將服裝還回去，但在出去時不慎被警察捕獲。關押期間，房子的屋主漢克拜訪史考特，並給他一個逃出監獄的機會，用螞蟻偷偷將縮小衣偷運給他後，讓他騎着一隻木蟻逃出警局（After trying the suit on, Lang accidentally shrinks himself to the size of an insect. Terrified by the experience, he returns the suit to the house, but is arrested on the way out. Pym, the homeowner, visits Lang in jail and smuggles the suit into his cell to help him break out）。
故事講述下去當然是要史考特開始進行嚴格訓練（strict training）讓他有資格成為新一代「蟻人」（make him qualified as the Ant-man of the new generation）。
後來，史考特開始集中精神通過種種項目（he started to focus on getting through all kinds of programs），而最後階段則是去霍華．史塔克名下的舊倉庫偷盜一個特殊零件（special device），但史考特到達後才發現倉庫如今已經改建為「復仇者基地」（Avengers' headquarters）。史考特還是決心完成任務，跳下去與看守的山姆．威爾森打一戰後，成功拿到零件滿載而歸。
這緊張的情節只是故事開頭而已。《蟻人》節奏明快，而且看見一個人變成與螞蟻一樣小時，簡直佩服《蟻人》特技製作。全套戲的英文用字簡單易明，具娛樂性之餘，又可以豐富英文詞彙和英語學習，非常推介給大家。
