它是一處位於灣仔,介乎皇后大道東與軒尼詩道及軍器廠街的地段。名稱源於一間約開業於1900年的古物店—日本大佛洋行。之前,這裡曾有一東區街市。
1940年代,大佛洋行改作先施保險大樓。早於1910年代,洋行的右方曾有第二代的海員會館及一名為「藍屋」的海軍食堂。
1949年,一座有線電台「麗的呼聲」設於軒尼詩道與軍器廠街交界,現時為熙信樓。
Tai Fat Hau, c. 1915
This area is the crossroads of Queen's Road East, Hennessy Road and Arsenal Street. It was named after a Japanese curio shop called Daibutzu Co. which was opened in the c.1900.A market had been operated there in the earlier period.
In the 1940s, Daibutzu Co. changed to Sincere Insurance Building. On its right side, there were the second generation Sailors' Home and an alias "Blue House"Royal Naval Canteen.
In 1949, a cable broadcast corporation, Rediffusion began to operate at the corner of Hennessy Road and Arsenal Street, where the Asian House is situated nowaday.
