Johnston Road and Hennessy Road, C.1962
Johnston Road was a harbour front road before 1930. Its early name was Praya East. There was a Fenwick Engineering Factory located behind the church, so Fenwick Street was named after it.
After the completion of the Wan Chai reclamation, numerous new roads and streets were constructed, including Hennessy Road and Gloucester Road. In the same year, over one thousand new houses of 4 storeys were built on the new reclaimed land, and they were then redeveloped to modern buildings from 1960s.
The church was completed in 1936, it was also rebuilt in mid-1990s.
