He should be given credits for his efforts to deal with long-standing problems such as inadequate land supply, parallel traders, poverty, and stopping pregnant mainland women from coming to give birth in Hong Kong.（雙非孕婦一刀切、限奶令、長者生活津貼、低收入在職家庭津貼、扶貧委員會、制訂貧窮線，樓市雙辣招。）
No doubt, there's growing polarization （兩極化） of politics in the city. The city is so divided that it is difficult for people to get together and agree on many issues. The challenge for any Chief Executive is how to deal with this fragmented, stormy political climate. The next CE needs to focus more on Hong Kong's internal affairs to facilitate both economic development and social harmony.
At the same time, he or she must protect the "One Country, Two Systems" principle and the Basic Law and keep Hong Kong away from any threat to national security and sovereignty.■陳威雄
