（續3月7日欄）對於成長於上世紀90年代的樂迷而言，Chester的歌聲與Linkin Park的新金屬搖滾樂已是一種超越音樂文化的存在。於千禧年（millennium）劃時代空降的他們，不但掀起一整代青年世代的熱血（enthusiam）和叛逆（rebelliousness），亦承載着我們的青春與成長。
我們無法忘記在被譽為「21世紀最佳銷量」首張專輯《Hybrid Theory》內那力竭聲嘶的嗓音、耳畔迴蕩的旋律和令人扎心的歌詞。從第一次聽，專輯內每首歌都似Chester在宣洩兒時的惡夢：父母離異（parents separation）、流浪街頭（wandering）、被排擠（being isolated）、被性侵（sex assault）......在聽着他治癒心靈（mind healing）的歌時，你可以想像到他背後那段沉重的人生嗎？

Crawling in my skin （在我皮膚下蠢蠢欲動的）
These wounds they will not heal （而不會癒合的傷口）
Fear is how I fall （我恐懼的是我的墜落）
Confusing what is real （已分不清真假）
《By myself》
I can't hold on （當我疲憊時已無法堅持）
To what I want when I'm stretched so thin （去完成我想要的）
It's all too much to take in （這一切都難以接受）
With thoughts of failure sinking in （在我腦海只有失敗的想法）

And got so far （走到這麼遠）

當年只有24歲的他，不知道他與Linkin Park將會橫掃全球，並成為搖滾音樂史上極為重要的里程碑，但再多的獎項、再高的成就都無法撫平他最深處的痛苦。
他就這樣，為他及他無與倫比的音樂畫上句號。筆者最後再節錄《Hybrid Theory》內的歌曲－《With you》向這位永垂不朽的搖滾巨星告別。生命可貴，應以珍惜。
