中文用「臉皮厚、厚臉皮」形容一個人，多少有點貶義，輕則指這個人不理別人批評、一意孤行；重則指這個人無恥，不要臉。英文當然亦有詞彙表達這些意思。提到「厚臉皮」的英文，很直接就會想到近似的thick skin（厚皮），不過說someone has a thick skin（某人的皮很厚），其實比較中性，說的是這個人不怕批評，不容易被別人的批評傷害，亦可以組成形容詞thick-skinned。
He won't care what people say. He has a thick skin.
他不會介意別人說甚麼。他的臉皮夠厚。
To be a successful politician, you need to have a strong personality and sometimes a thick skin.
要成為一個成功的政治家，你必須有堅強的個性，有時還要有厚臉皮。
He is a rather thick-skinned reporter. He will be there even if he is not welcome.
他是臉皮很厚的記者，即使不受歡迎，也會出現。
「銅皮」非鐵骨 反而最惡劣
如果真的要說一個人臉皮厚、不顧環境、不理他人、賴皮，甚至不知羞恥，另外有一句短語brass neck，字面上就是說頸項像銅一般硬，不要以為這是說一個人「硬頸」，說someone has a/the brass neck to do something（某人的頸項銅一般硬，會做某些事），其實是說這個人對自己的行為過分自信，沒有明白到自己的做法不為別人接受，沒有顧及他人的想法，是個厚臉皮的人。
She has a brass neck to go on leave when everyone is so busy.
大家都在忙，她卻放假去，真的不知羞恥。
He had the brass neck to go to the party though not being invited.
這個聚會沒有邀請他，他竟然厚着臉皮不請自來。
We don't understand why he has the brass neck to make these comments after creating so many troubles.
我們不明白他弄出這麼多麻煩之後，竟然還恬不知恥地說出這些話。
與brass neck有點關係的形容詞brazen-faced（銅臉皮），是指人厚顏無恥、明目張膽，明知故犯，做錯事也不感到尷尬，不隱藏。
He was brazen-faced in saying that he was not going to keep the promise he made.
他真的厚顏無恥，竟然明言自己不會遵守承諾。
She is a brazen-faced woman and she has no intention to stop her rude behaviors.
她是厚臉皮囂張的女人，無意停止自己的粗劣行為。
這些意指「厚臉皮」的字眼，表達了不同程度、不同意味的厚臉皮，have a thick skin是不理旁人的批評，輕微的厚臉皮，thick-skinned有時可能是好事。
然而，have a brass neck則是只看到自己而厚着臉皮罔顧他人，不理別人處境和感受，更為嚴重的brazed-faced則是形容人無賴，厚顏不要臉了。
見到不同的人的厚臉皮行為，根據他們的為人處事，可選擇用不同的字眼描述他們。
