A group of Central and Western residents went to the scene of the 'Occupy Central' movement on 14 October to ask the occupiers to leave and vacate the roads. An 88-year-old elder even went down on his knees before the leader of the movement Chow Wing-hong and other students. This was really touching and heartbreaking. Despite the fact that 'Occupy Central' is an unlawful movement which has caused chaos in Hong Kong, disrupted public order and seriously hurt the interests of the people, Hong Kong residents hold a tolerant attitude towards the student occupiers, hoping that the students will leave peacefully and that the incident can be put to an end as soon as possible.

That an elder in such an old age knelt down in public before instigators like Chow Wing-hong to beg students to reopen the roads further reflected the fatherly love Hong Kong people have on the students. People do not wish to see students sink deep into the morass of never-ending political in-fighting nor do they wish to see any bloody confrontations in which students will be made sacrifices in the 'Occupy Central' movement. Are the students not able to feel the deep love and great patience? The elderly citizen knelt before the student occupiers simply because he wished the students not to insist on going the wrong path and not to destroy overnight the success built by generations of Hong Kong people.
