Japanese cabinet members visited Yasukuni Shrine
In response to the visit of Japanese cabinet members to the Yasukuni Shrine, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China stated such a visit to where Class A Japanese war criminals of World War II were enshrined reflected the very wrong attitude of the members towards history, which China strongly denounced. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe had just promised to Chinese President Xi Jinping that he would uphold the statement made by former Prime Minister Tomiichi Murayama and continue to tread the path of peaceful development, but had his cabinet recklessly go to the shrine to "worship the ghosts" while the words were still ringing.
History is the fundamental political principle underlying Sino-Japanese relations. Only when the Japanese faithfully regard and deeply regret their history of aggression, and completely depart from militarism, will she be able to build a healthy and steady relationship with China. Japanese politicians should maintain a correct and upright view of history, taking more actions that facilitate reconciliation and promote mutual trust among neighboring Asian countries. It is only by doing so that she can truly gain understanding from her neighbors and earn the respect of the world. (24-4-2015)
