This Zhuangyuan cap is shaped like the roof of a traditional Chinese house, with pompoms adorning the rooftop and eave corners. The red and green long tassels, changsui, hanging from the eave corners are puns on "longevity" while the ruyi (wishes fulfilled) motifs are suggestive of tile-ends. The pair of citrons (citrus medica) on the front of the roof is also called xiangyuan, "fragrant plant". This Zhuangyuan hat is meant to wish the child success in his future studies and examinations.
