A millet one sows in spring,
Ten thousand grains
one harvests in autumn thereby.
No fields lie fallow in the whole world:
Still, of hunger farmers die.
Background:
This poem reflected the lamentable situation of farmers who worked hard but were sometimes starved to death due to heavy taxes in ancient times.
