掌握連接詞（linking words）的用法十分重要，明白它們的用途可以令同學提升閱讀、寫作，甚至是口語的能力。在英語中主要有六大連接詞，分別是：emphasis words、addition words、comparison and contrast words、cause-and-effect words、illustration words及sequence words。
今天和大家分享一些有關comparison and contrast words的用法。
顧名思義，comparison words用來強調相同之處，而contrast words則用來突出不同之處。
要留意，運用以下詞語應付特別小心。Although和but不會一起用，despite和in spite of之後也不能用完整句子。
Comparison words Similarly、In a similar fashion/manner、Likewise、Similar to、Equally等等
用法 Linking word, subject + verb
例子 John participated in the coming mooting competition. Likewise, Mary did the same thing.
Contrast words However、Nevertheless、Nonetheless、Still、Although/Even though、Though、But、Yet、Despite/In spite of、On the other hand、On the contrary等等
用法 Linking word, subject + verb...
Subject + verb...; linking word, subject + verb...
Linking word + subject +verb..., subject + verb...
例子 Plants are common and everywhere. However, not many people know what functions they serve in our environment.
