鄭寶鴻 香港歷史博物館名譽顧問
一處介乎雲咸街、己連拿利、下亞厘畢道以及德己立街的高地,以香港的第一任船政官及海事裁判司畢打海軍上尉而命名。其官邸亦位於此。
1841年,這裡有一以首任「管理長官」(港督)而命名的義律谷,後來易名為己連拿利,中文名為「鐵崗」。
1890年,牛奶公司在此設立冷凍貨倉,曾於1913年擴建,現時為「藝穗會」。
Pedder Hill
A plateau at the intersection of Wyndham Street, Glenealy, Lower Albert Road and D'Aguilar Street was named after Lieutenant William Pedder, the first Harbour Master and Marine Magistrate of Hong Kong. His office was also established there.
In 1841, there was Elliot's Vale which was named after the first Administrator (Governor). Later, the name of Elliot's Vale has been changed to Glenealy, and it's called "Tit Kong"in Chinese.
In 1890, Dairy Farm Co. built a cold storage warehouse there. The building renovated and expanded in 1913, in which the Fringe Club is located today.
