2010年1月15日下午5時50分日沒時偏食狀況
繼1月1日凌晨的月偏食後，1月15月下午將會出現另一次日環食的天象，但因香港並非處於日食的中心帶，我們只能看到日偏食。這次日偏食開始時間為下午3時33分，太陽離水平的高度為28°，偏食最大時可看到半個太陽被月球掩蔽，但這時太陽已降至離水平只有13°，不利身處市區的觀測者。故若計劃觀測，應注意選擇面向西南偏西、沒有遮擋的地點，這便大有可能在下午6時左右看到一個帶有缺口的太陽沒入水平線。
太陽非常耀目，觀測時要特別注意保護眼睛，必須使用觀測日食的專用眼鏡。
The First Solar Eclipse of the Year
After the lunar eclipse on the New Year's Day. There is a solar eclipse this coming week. This eclipse is classified as annular. But since the Moon's shadow will not sweep across H.K., we will only be able to see the partial phase. The eclipse will start at 15:33 when the Sun is at an altitude of 28°. You will be able to see only half of the solar disk when the eclipse is at maximum. By this time the Sun will be quite low in the sky. So you are recommended to observe from a place where there is no obstruction in the southwestern direction. At around 6 p.m., you may even be able to see the partially eclipsed Sun sinking towards the horizon.
